USAID SEA carried out last month a training specifically tailored to participants of its local advocacy initiative called “Pejuang Laut,” or Sea Champions, Program. The training combined BCC techniques and used a simple, easy-to-understand language that resulted in highly interactive sessions.
About 40 marine and fisheries experts and practitioners gathered in Jakarta on 6-7 August for an “Expert Verification Workshop” to review MPA Network Design in FMA 715. Mr. Andi Rusandi, Director of the MMAF Directorate of Marine Conservation and Biodiversity, gave the opening remarks. The network design will be finalized in 2019
Efforts to develop technical guidelines for marine protected area (MPA) networks in Indonesia reached a milestone with the completion in June of the stakeholder consultations required by Indonesian policy. USAID SEA and Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) conducted on 14 June in Jakarta the final stakeholder consultation to review the draft Technical Guidance on MMAF Ministerial Decree No. 13/2014 on MPA Networks.
